Job Description

Job Purpose: Provide assurance on compliance to management and the Board by creating a platform from which meaningful compliance incidences and high-risk areas are brought to the attention of management to ensure organisational wide compliance with all regulatory, financial, company policies, procedures, and standards.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Identify and diagnose where compliance activity is required and high-level risks and develop, coordinate and monitor the development and implementation of compliance activity where it is absent or unsatisfactory and risk mitigating actions to ensure organisational wide compliance with all regulatory, financial, company policies, procedures and standards.
  • Interpret and monitor the implementation of the Compliance Strategy and Plans to ensure organisational wide compliance with all regulatory, financial, company policies, procedures and standards.
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor the testing & maintenance of business continuity and emergency response plans to ensure current plans are in place for all critical business processes at a group level.
  • Gather information and compile the Compliance Reports to the Executive Management and Board to assure them of the level of compliance with regulatory, financial, company policies, procedures and standards.
  • Capture and coordinate the regulatory, financial, organisational wide compliance company policies & procedures, standards and regulatory requirements into the centralized database to ensure easy user access and utilization.
  •  Facilitate the implementation of compliance systems, procedures and mechanisms to evaluate whether compliance adherence and that actions plans are been implemented.
  • Facilitate the working relationship between Compliance, SHEQ, Internal & External Audit, other external regulatory authorities (NERSA, DOE, etc.) and Legal to ensure organisational wide compliance with all regulatory, financial, company policies & procedures and standards.
  • Monitor segregation of duties across all SAP Modules, confirm that mitigations are in place for conflicting transactions and test compliance to identified mitigation plans to ensure that SAP user profiles do not contain conflicting transactions.
  • Collate a centralised repository of audit findings from all assurance providers (Auditor General, Internal Audit, DOE, etc.) and confirm agreed action plans are implemented within agreed time frames to ensure resolution of all audit findings.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A relevant Advanced Diploma (NQF Lev7)/Bachelor’s degree
  • Accredited compliance management certification
  • Business Continuity Management Diploma (added advantage)
Minimum Experience:
  • 5 – 7 years related experience, preferably within the Petrochemical Industry, of which 3 years were spent in a Compliance and Business Continuity Management environment.

  • South African Legislation relating to SHEQ (Mine Health and Safety Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act etc.)
