Job Description

Job Purpose : Provide specialist support services relating to applications to users of the systems and to service delivery functions, investigate and resolve problems and provide information about the applications to enable efficient and effective business processing and that business applications are operational and aligned to organisational requirements
 
Responsibilities:
  • Execute request management process by logging and resolving calls logged on the incident management system within SLA and constantly monitor the system for any incidents relating to the Application services and escalating incidents with service providers when required to ensure timely resolution of incidents and service requests.

  • Document any changes to applications and load these changes into the Configuration Management Database so that the systems configuration documentation is up to date at all times.
  • Liaise with system development staff or software suppliers on the development of system enhancements, produce technical specifications, accept new releases of application software and perform testing and quality assurance on application changes and developments to ensure known problems are overcome and user requirements are fulfilled and aligned to PetroSA development standards.
  • Monitor applications by regular scrutiny of reports from the applications software, or service delivery staff in accordance with agreed procedures, oversee incident, problem, change, configuration and capacity management of relevant applications to ensure that applications function according to organisational requirements.
  • Perform root cause analysis and problem trend analysis, take corrective action to improve application performance and to avoid problems arising, document findings and produce reports to ensure problems are noted and performance trends are identified.
  • Analyses internal and external environmental factors, evaluate and report on national and international trends and statistics and design and implement interventions to introduce best practice to ensure trends for improvement and best practice is identified.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to internal and external customers regarding requests or queries related to the shared services applications department to ensure the delivery of quality customer service.
  • Provide training for Super/Power Users on the applications to ensure that they are upskilled to train other users.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7)/Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or related field
Minimum Experience:
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in Application Development of which 2 - 3 years was spent in a SAP Applications(Sales & Distribution) environment
