Job Description

Job Purpose : Provide SAP Basis administration and support of technical architecture, including Basis Support of SAP NETWEAVER and BW platforms, to provide excellent system integrity, reliability, availability and performance.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Execute request management process by logging and resolving calls logged on the incident management system within SLA and constantly monitor the system for any incidents relating to the Administration services and escalating incidents with service providers when required to ensure timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
  • Monitor progress of requests and carry out general or site-specific modifications or define enhancements to be escalated to systems developers or software suppliers keeping the users and other interested parties informed of the corrective action to ensure logged problems are resolved according to customers satisfaction.
  • Document any changes to applications and load these changes into the Configuration Management Database so that the systems configuration documentation is up to date at all times.
  • Liaise with system application staff or software suppliers on the development of system enhancements, produce technical specifications, accept new releases of technical and application software and perform testing and quality assurance on technical and application changes and developments to ensure known problems are overcome and user requirements are fulfilled and aligned to PetroSA administrator and development standards.
  • Monitor Basis technical administration management by regular scrutiny of reports from the Basis environment in accordance with agreed procedures, oversee incident, problem, change, configuration and capacity management of relevant technical landscape to ensure that BASIS administration functions according to organisational requirements.
  • Installation and configuration of Solution Manager, for monitoring and generating Early Watch Reports.
  • Perform system client copies, NETWEAVER Installations/Kernel upgrade, performance analysis and memory/buffer management, spool administration database backup/recovery, database export/import, SAP and Oracle installation, technical documentation, and troubleshooting(problem reporting and resolution).
  • Provide SAP BASIS Administration Support, Performance monitoring and tunning, Problem analysis & resolution, and ensure system integrity and system availability.
  • Perform root cause analysis and problem trend analysis, take corrective action to improve application performance and to avoid problems arising, document findings and produce reports to ensure problems are noted and performance trends are identified.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7)/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or National Diploma in Information Technology or related field.
Minimum Experience:
  • 6 - 7years’ experience in the SAP system administration of the Technical Architecture of SAP NETWEAVER and BW Platforms, with system migration, installations, implementations, configuration and maintenance of which 3-4 years was spent in the SAP Basis Administrator environment.
