Job Description
Job Purpose : Perform telecommunications, Network Cabling, Telephony Cabling and audio-visual activities, maintain and support covering PABX, analogue and IP voice and all related duties to support the requirements and strategy of PetroSA’s IS Infrastructure, incorporating all aspects of the communications infrastructure and telecommunications security and facilitate consistent and efficient workflow to ensure the integrity, reliability, efficiency and security of the organizations’ telecommunication services.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor telecommunication and audio-visual systems usage, system traffic and the performance and quality of service provided by the system and its constituent hardware, software, transmission services and support functions, conduct reviews with users/ other staff/suppliers and all other required activities, to ensure system availability with minimal disruption to operations when conducting planned maintenance and consistent quality of service provided to the organisation
- Execute incident management process by logging, resolving calls logged on incident management system within SLA and constantly monitoring the incident management system for any incidents relating to telecommunication and escalating incidents with service providers when required to ensure timeous resolution.
- Perform backup and recovery processes including testing using the tools and technology deployed in PetroSA to ensure business critical information is secure.
- Administer the procurement of IS telecommunications and audio-visual hardware/software and services to ensure system availability and service delivery to the organization.
- Conduct the identification of risks related to telecommunications, Network Cabling and Telephony Cabling and audio-visual infrastructure and systems, and telecommunications security breaches in collaboration with other IS sections/departments and alert management of actual or potential breaches in security within daily operations and projects/initiatives to ensure a proactive approach to risk management and continual improvement in control.
- Provide assistance and support services to the business and department regarding information relating to telecommunications such as, telephone reports, video conferencing services, procedures and all other related information to ensure quality customer service.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- NQF Lev 6 qualification in Information Systems/Telecommunications/Cabling
Minimum Experience:
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in a Telecommunications/Cabling environment
Knowledge & Competencies:
- Telecommunications infrastructure and architecture
- Telecommunications networks and operating systems
- Public access to Electronic Information Act
- Configuration of handsets, equipment and routers
- Telecommunications professional standards
